Land Selection for an Ideal Nursery:
To establish a nursery you must select the appropriate or suitable land. The correct instructions for land selection are given below:
- The soil of the land should be loamy or sandy loamy.
- Land that is submerged or submerged most of the time cannot be selected.
- Land that is submerged by rainwater or does not have an immediate drainage system cannot be selected.
- The land must have an irrigation system.
- The land should have an adequate amount of air and sunlight.
Preparation of seeds before sowing
Good quality seedlings depend on what kind of seed has been processed. If the seeds are processed properly, they do not get damaged easily and the germination of seedlings increases. There are several methods of seed processing. The following is highlighted-
Stacking or chewing method:
In this method, firstly the seeds should be kept in a sack and soaked in water for 72 hours. Then the sack should be allowed to dry in the sun. Then the seeds should be piled up and covered with straw or leaves. In this case, the seeds should be kept wet as irrigation water should be given at regular intervals. Finally, within 7-10 days when you notice cracks in the seeds, they will be fully ready for sowing. Teak seeds are prepared in this way.
Method of soaking in water:
The seeds are first soaked in water for 12-48 hours to soften the skin. In this method, the seeds absorb enough water and are ready to germinate. Bean, gamma, and pine seeds are prepared in this way.
Purification process by hot water:
The husk or bark of some seeds is more hard in nature, which has to be processed in hot water. Examples: Akashmani, Epil Epil, etc. tree seeds.
Groove method:
This method is used for large size seeds. The grooved outer covering of the seed receives adequate air and sunlight which helps in germination. Mango seeds are an example of this method.
Wetting and cracking method:
In this method, the seeds and leaves are packed in a sack and soaked in water for 12 hours. Then the seeds have to be dried in the sun. In this method some seeds catch cracks and they should be sown. Arjun, Kadai, and seeds like this are examples of this method.
Seed collection, sowing, and germination time of seedlings:
Different types of fruits ripen at different times. Seeds should be collected as soon as the fruits ripen. After seed collection, different types of seeds have to be sown at different times. Some seeds germinate immediately after sowing, while some seeds germinate late. Thus the time of seed collection, sowing, and germination of different types of trees varies.

You must sow the seeds separately according to the area-based needs so that you can be sure of seeing each type of seedling. It will be convenient for you to sell the seedlings and it has requirements. You can also read this post to know more about the nursery and its useful tools.
